Diet in Pregnancy
This is probably the most frequently raised topic of conversation at the first antenatal visit. Pregnant women always want what is best for their unborn baby and may worry about whether certain foods are safe to eat.
Food in Australia is among the safest in the world and most things are safe to eat when you are pregnant. However your immune system is altered when you are pregnant making you more susceptible to some illnesses. As a result of that we advise you to avoid some foods and drink.
The National Health Service in the UK has a great website on foods to avoid in pregnancy. If you would like to know more about this, click here.
Dr Etherington and our practice nurse will be happy to discuss any questions you have about anything you have read or heard relating to your diet in pregnancy.
